Frequently Asked Questions

Where can you go to experience the most snow while on vacation?

Iceland is home to many winter wonderlands. Not only because it's located in Northern Europe, which means it receives more sunlight during the day than most places, but also because it offers visitors the opportunity to experience nature at its finest. Iceland offers adventure seekers a natural paradise with everything from volcanoes, waterfalls, and glaciers.

But if you're still not sure if Iceland is right for you, here are some reasons Iceland may be your favorite vacation destination.

  1. The scenery - National Geographic describes Iceland as "a country of ice and fire." Many active volcanoes can be found on this tiny island, including Mount Hekla. This is the largest recorded eruption. Iceland is known for its incredible landscapes and volcanoes. You will feel as though you are in another world, whether you visit the country by foot or on a helicopter flight over the lava fields.
  2. Icelanders are known to be friendly and open-hearted. They are open to tourists from all parts of the world and welcome them with open arms. Visitors are often greeted with the traditional Icelandic greeting Hvalur Hjarta ("Warm heart") Locals enjoy showing guests around their country and telling stories about their heritage.
  3. The wildlife – You might mistakenly think Iceland is a desert. Although it doesn't receive nearly as much rainfall as other parts of Europe, Iceland is covered in lush green forests. The mountains of Iceland are home to many birds, animals, fish, as well as insects. Early settlers initially brought many plants found in Iceland from North America.
  4. The culture - Iceland has a rich history that dates back thousands years. The locals are proud to be part of this culture. Iceland has no shopping centers or casinos. Tourism plays an important role in Iceland's economy. Travelling here won't cost you a fortune - many travellers even report spending less money while visiting Iceland than in Las Vegas.
  5. The Cuisine - It would be a long list of reasons why you should travel to Iceland without including the local cuisine. Icelanders are known for their delicious, hearty meals of lamb, seafood, reindeer meat, vegetables, and other local ingredients. Visitors don't have to eat Icelandic food when they visit the country. Restaurants abroad serve up dishes made with Icelandic ingredients and recipes. French restaurants have chicken soup made with puffin egg yolks, while Italian restaurants make salmon-topped pasta.
  6. The nightlife: You thought Iceland was only a quiet holiday spot. When visiting Iceland, you should plan to stay awake until the early hours. There are many bars and clubs to keep foreigners busy throughout the week.
  7. The weather – Although Iceland is subject to extreme temperature fluctuations, it has a mild and stable climate. Iceland is affordable and you won't have to spend a lot of money. The Reykjavik Grapevine Festival is one of the largest music festivals in Northern Hemisphere. This festival attracted over 100,000 people last year.
  8. Safety – Although Iceland is relatively safe, there are certain safety precautions you should take to protect yourself from harm. Avoid expensive jewelry, particularly diamonds. You should also ensure that your valuables are not left unattended in public areas. Finally, ensure someone knows where to find you if hiking through the countryside.
  9. Education - If you study Icelandic, you can use your knowledge to help others understand the language. It is possible to get involved in Icelandic politics. This will help you understand the culture.
  10. Freedom – Iceland has gained popularity among travelers due to its liberal policies. The government was forced to pass legislation prohibiting police officers asking too many questions. They don't want to go after people who break laws, but tourists who inadvertently do so.
  11. The environment – Iceland's isolated island has kept it relatively untouched by humankind. This gives the country natural beauty of a different kind. Iceland has a very low level of modern civilization compared to other European countries. You could walk across the entire land in under two days!
  12. Iceland's health care system is excellent and the prices for medical services are usually very reasonable.

Where can you spend winter in the US at its best?

There are three distinct regions in the United States where you'll find more snowfall during winter. Each region offers unique experiences for snowboarders or skiers.

Mt. Brighton (Michigan), Crystal Mountain Resort in Minnesota, and Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado.

There are many small villages and towns in Northeast such as Stowe, Vermont and Killington, Vermont.

Finally, you'll also find Whistler (British Columbia), as well as Sun Valley (Idaho), in the Pacific Northwest.

The Midwest is home to some of the country's largest ski resorts. These resorts offer snowshoeing and ice skate, as well as a variety of trails. You will also find that Midwest lodging is more affordable than in other regions.

The Northeast is famously known for its smaller, more intimate skiing resorts. This region also offers some of America's best powder skiing. The Northeast is the best place to find true winter wonderland experiences.

The Pacific Northwest offers an entirely different type of winter experience. There are large ski resorts here with many trails. You can also find smaller, more isolated resorts. You can also find some of the finest backcountry skiing in the United States in the Pacific Northwest.

Winter travel doesn't require a lot of money. You could stay in one of the many hostels scattered around major cities like New York or San Francisco.

A hostel usually offers dormitory beds. These beds are usually affordable so you won't have to break the bank. And if you book early enough, you might be able to snag a bed right next to the door.

Staying in a hotel is a great way to indulge. Hotels often offer private rooms and breakfast. Book a hotel room through Priceline or Airbnb to save even further money
