Where is the best place to vacation with snow?

Iceland is the best place to find winter wonderlands. It's located in Northern Europe which means that it gets more sunlight than other places. But, it also offers the chance to see nature at its best. Iceland is the perfect place for adventure seekers, with its glaciers, volcanoes and waterfalls.

Here are some reasons Iceland may be your new favorite destination if you haven't yet decided whether to go on your next vacation.

  1. The scenery - National Geographic describes Iceland as "a country of ice and fire." The small island nation of Iceland is home to many active volcanoes. One such eruption is Mount Hekla. Iceland is famous for its beautiful landscapes. The country is a great place to explore on foot or by helicopter.
  2. Icelanders are known for their friendly and warm nature. International tourists are welcomed to Iceland with open arms. Visitors are welcomed with a traditional Icelandic greeting called Hvalur Hjarta. Locals love sharing their stories and showing their guests around the country.
  3. The wildlife – You might mistakenly think Iceland is a desert. Iceland receives less rainfall than other European countries, but it is still covered in lush green forests. There are many species of birds, fish, and other animals that call Iceland home. Early settlers initially brought many plants found in Iceland from North America.
  4. The culture – Iceland's rich history dates back thousands and locals are proud about their unique culture. Iceland does not have any casinos or shopping centers. However, tourism is a major part of the country's economy. You won't need to spend a lot of money here, and many travelers report spending less while in Iceland than when they visited Las Vegas.
  5. The Cuisine - There are many reasons to visit Iceland. But what would a list be without mentioning the local cuisine? Icelanders are famous for their rich, hearty meals that include seafood, lamb, reindeer meat, as well as vegetables. While visiting Iceland, tourists don't have to only eat Icelandic foods. Restaurants around the world offer Icelandic-inspired dishes and recipes. French restaurants have chicken soup made with puffin egg yolks, while Italian restaurants make salmon-topped pasta.
  6. The nightlife: You thought Iceland was only a quiet holiday spot. When visiting Iceland, you should plan to stay awake until the early hours. You can find bars and clubs that keep you entertained during the week and on weekends.
  7. The weather is - While Iceland occasionally experiences extreme temperatures, the general climate is moderate and stable. Iceland is a great place to visit, and it won't break the bank. The Reykjavik Grapevine Festival is one of the largest music festivals in Northern Hemisphere. This festival attracted over 100,000 people last year.
  8. Safety - Iceland is considered safe. However, you need to take certain precautions to ensure your safety. Avoid wearing expensive jewelry, especially diamonds. Don't leave valuables in public places. If you plan to hike in the countryside, make sure someone is aware of where you are.
  9. Education - Icelandic language students can use their knowledge to help others. Participating in Icelandic politics will allow you to learn more about the culture.
  10. Freedom - Iceland's liberal policies have made it increasingly popular among tourists. The government was forced to pass legislation prohibiting police officers asking too many questions. They're not looking for people who break laws. Instead, they are looking for tourists who may inadvertently breach some rules.
  11. The environment - Iceland is a remote island that has remained relatively undeveloped by humans. This gives the country natural beauty of a different kind. Compared to European countries, Iceland is barely touched by modern civilization. You could easily walk across the whole land in two days.
  12. Iceland's excellent health care system offers affordable medical services and excellent healthcare.

9 Winter Destinations Well Worth Visiting

Let's now look at a list with a few of the most popular winter destinations in the world. Some places you may already know, while others might come as a surprise.

I've done my best in making sure each destination is authentic and well-researched. Without further delay, let's begin our journey.

  1. Iceland - Iceland has become one of the most popular tourist destinations worldwide. This is not just because of Iceland's stunning natural beauty, but also because of its unique culture. Icelandic people love celebrating their festivals and parties throughout the year. The most popular festival is Laugardagurinn, a hot-day. It is held every summer for three days.
  2. Norway - Norway has been called Europe's paradise of nature lovers. The country's stunning landscapes include forests, mountains, waterfalls and fjords. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities in the country. Whether you like skiing, hiking, climbing, paddling, sailing, or just relaxing, there's something for everyone.
  3. Canada - Canada's reputation is one of safety and friendliness. You have great options for snowboarding and skiing. I think this country is perfect if you want to get some peace during the winter.
  4. Norway - Norway also has some stunning landscapes. What makes Norway so special is its endless variety of activities. You can visit the mountains and forests, go skiing, or simply relax on the beaches.
  5. Sweden – Sweden is known for its long history in science and nature. Stockholm is Scandinavia's capital. In winter, thousands of tourists flock to Stockholm to feel the cold.
  6. Finland - Finland is a small paradise located at the same latitude as Alaska. This place is so beautiful that I don't know why it hasn't been explored more. It's an excellent spot for hunting and fishing.
  7. South Africa – South Africa's safari tours are a highlight. This could be the best place to go if your search is for something unique from other countries.
  8. Austria - Austria has been called the heartland of Europe. The Habsburgs ruled the capital Vienna until 1918. It is also where Walt Disney was conceived.
  9. Switzerland - Switzerland is home to some of the highest mountain peaks in the Alps. These picturesque locations played an essential role in shaping Switzerland's destiny.
