Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a better place to go on vacation with snow?

Iceland is the best place to find winter wonderlands. It is situated in Northern Europe so it receives more sunlight throughout the day than most. However, the best thing about Iceland is the fact that it allows visitors to experience nature at it's finest. Iceland is home to a variety of natural wonders such as volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls, geysers and volcanoes.

Here are some reasons Iceland may be your new favorite destination if you haven't yet decided whether to go on your next vacation.

  1. The scenery - National Geographic described Iceland as "a place of fire and ice." Many active volcanoes can be found on this tiny island, including Mount Hekla. This is the largest recorded eruption. In addition to volcanoes, Iceland is also known for its amazing landscapes. You will feel as though you are in another world, whether you visit the country by foot or on a helicopter flight over the lava fields.
  2. Icelanders are known for their friendly and warm nature. Tourists from all corners of the globe are welcomed with open arms by Icelanders. Visitors are welcomed with a traditional Icelandic greeting called Hvalur Hjarta. The locals love to show their guests around their beautiful country as well as sharing stories about the history of their homeland.
  3. The wildlife - Iceland may seem deserted, but that's not true. Iceland has lush green forests, even though it doesn't get as much rain as other European regions. You will find many different species of birds, animals, fish and insects in its mountains. Many plants originally brought from North America by early settlers were found in Iceland.
  4. Culture - Iceland's history dates back thousands of year, and its people are proud of this unique culture. Iceland has no shopping centers or casinos. Tourism plays an important role in Iceland's economy. The cost of traveling here is not prohibitive. Many tourists even say they spent less money in Iceland than Las Vegas.
  5. The Cuisine - It would be a long list of reasons why you should travel to Iceland without including the local cuisine. Icelanders are famous for their rich, hearty meals that include seafood, lamb, reindeer meat, as well as vegetables. Icelandic food is not the only thing visitors can enjoy while visiting Iceland. Restaurants abroad serve up dishes made with Icelandic ingredients and recipes. French restaurants may offer chicken soup made from puffin eggs; Italian restaurants might serve salmon-topped pasta.
  6. Nightlife in Iceland - If you thought Iceland was a peaceful vacation spot, then you are wrong. Icelanders should be prepared to stay up until the wee hours of the morning when they visit. The bars and clubs offer entertainment for foreigners throughout the week, and even into the weekend.
  7. The weather - Iceland's climate is generally mild and stable, although it can experience extreme heat. Iceland is a great place to visit, and it won't break the bank. If you want proof, look no further than the Reykjavik Grapevine Festival, one of the biggest music festivals in the Northern Hemisphere. This event attracted more than 100,000 people last year.
  8. Safety - Iceland is very safe. But there are some precautions that you can take to make sure that Iceland stays out of harm's path. Don't wear expensive jewelry, especially diamonds. Your valuables should not be left in public. If you plan to hike in the countryside, make sure someone is aware of where you are.
  9. Education - Learn Icelandic and help other people understand it. Participating in Icelandic politics will allow you to learn more about the culture.
  10. Freedom - Iceland has become increasingly popular among travelers because of its liberal policies. The government was forced to pass legislation prohibiting police officers asking too many questions. They're not looking for people who break laws. Instead, they are looking for tourists who may inadvertently breach some rules.
  11. The environment – Iceland is an island so it has remained relatively undeveloped. The country's natural beauty is unique. Iceland is far less developed than European countries. You could walk across the entire land in under two days!
  12. Iceland's excellent health care system offers affordable medical services and excellent healthcare.
