Is there a better place to go on vacation with snow?

Iceland is the place that has the most winter wonderlands. Because it is in Northern Europe, Iceland receives more sun during the day than many other places. This allows it to offer visitors the opportunity of experiencing nature at its best. Iceland offers adventure seekers everything they need, from glaciers to volcanoes to waterfalls to geysers.

If you are still unsure whether Iceland is the right destination for you, these are some reasons Iceland could be your new favorite.

  1. The scenery - National Geographic has described Iceland as "a land of ice and fire." It's true. Numerous active volcanoes are found in this small island country, including Mount Hekla which is one of the most powerful eruptions ever recorded. Iceland is known for its incredible landscapes and volcanoes. You will feel as though you are in another world, whether you visit the country by foot or on a helicopter flight over the lava fields.
  2. The people - Icelanders are known for being friendly and hospitable. Because of this, tourists from all around the world are welcome to visit Iceland. A traditional Icelandic greeting, Hvalur Hjarta (Warm Heart), is used to welcome visitors. Locals enjoy showing guests around their country and telling stories about their heritage.
  3. The wildlife - Iceland might seem like a desert. Iceland gets less rain than other areas of Europe but is still covered with lush green forests. You will find many different species of birds, animals, fish and insects in its mountains. Many plants originally brought from North America by early settlers were found in Iceland.
  4. The culture - The history of Iceland dates back thousands of years, and the locals are proud of their unique culture. Iceland doesn't have any shopping malls or casinos. Tourism is the mainstay of the economy. There are no high-end hotels or casinos in Iceland. In fact, many Icelanders report spending less on their travels than they did in Las Vegas.
  5. The Cuisine - It would be a long list of reasons why you should travel to Iceland without including the local cuisine. Icelanders are famous for their rich, hearty meals that include seafood, lamb, reindeer meat, as well as vegetables. Visitors don't have to eat Icelandic food when they visit the country. Restaurants in other countries offer Icelandic recipes and ingredients. French restaurants may offer chicken soup made from puffin eggs; Italian restaurants might serve salmon-topped pasta.
  6. Nightlife in Iceland - If you thought Iceland was a peaceful vacation spot, then you are wrong. Iceland is best visited at night. You can find bars and clubs that keep you entertained during the week and on weekends.
  7. The weather - Iceland's climate is generally mild and stable, although it can experience extreme heat. Iceland is not expensive. Reykjavik Grapevine Festival has been described as one of the most important music festivals in Northern Hemisphere. More than 100,000 people attended the event last year.
  8. Safety - Iceland is considered safe. However, you need to take certain precautions to ensure your safety. Avoid wearing expensive jewelry, especially diamonds. Also, don't leave your valuables unattended in any public place. Finally, ensure someone knows where to find you if hiking through the countryside.
  9. Education - Icelandic language students can use their knowledge to help others. You can also get involved in Icelandic politics, which will help to you learn more about Icelandic culture.
  10. Freedom – Iceland has gained popularity among travelers due to its liberal policies. The government was forced to pass legislation prohibiting police officers asking too many questions. They're not after anyone who breaks laws but after tourists who may inadvertently violate some rules.
  11. The environment – Iceland's isolated island has kept it relatively untouched by humankind. The country's natural beauty is unique. Compared to European countries, Iceland is barely touched by modern civilization. You could easily walk across the whole land in two days.
  12. Iceland's healthcare system is top-notch and generally very affordable.
