Lake Placid, New York, Saratoga Springs New York, Burlington Vermont, Lake Tahoe, California, and many other places are the best to ice skate during winter in the USA. While some of these spots are world-class resorts others are great places to ice skate for free.

New York's Olympic Center is located in Lake Placid. This center hosts figure skaters competing for the Winter Olympics every four years. It is one of the most popular spots for ice skating in the country. You can also ice skate outdoors in the many parks nearby. There are ice rinks available in Saratoga Springs (which hosts the annual National Figure Skating Championships) and Burlington, Vermont.
