Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a better place to go on vacation with snow?

Iceland is the only place you will find a lot of winter wonderlands. It is situated in Northern Europe so it receives more sunlight throughout the day than most. However, the best thing about Iceland is the fact that it allows visitors to experience nature at it's finest. Iceland offers adventure seekers a natural paradise with everything from volcanoes, waterfalls, and glaciers.

If you are still unsure whether Iceland is the right destination for you, these are some reasons Iceland could be your new favorite.

  1. The scenery. National Geographic called Iceland "a land full of fire and ice." This small island nation is home to numerous active volcanoes, including Mount Hekla, one of the largest eruptions ever recorded. Iceland is not only known for its volcanoes but also for its stunning landscapes. You will feel as though you are in another world, whether you visit the country by foot or on a helicopter flight over the lava fields.
  2. The people - Icelanders are known for being friendly and hospitable. As such, they welcome tourists from all over the world with open arms. Visitors are often welcomed with an Icelandic greeting called Hvalur Hjarta, which means Warm heart. Locals enjoy showing guests around their country and telling stories about their heritage.
  3. The wildlife - You might think Iceland is a desert, but you'd be wrong. Although it doesn't receive nearly as much rainfall as other parts of Europe, Iceland is covered in lush green forests. Its mountains are home to various birds, animals, fish, and insects. Many plants originally brought from North America by early settlers were found in Iceland.
  4. Culture - Iceland's history dates back thousands of year, and its people are proud of this unique culture. Iceland has no shopping centers or casinos. Tourism plays an important role in Iceland's economy. Travelling here won't cost you a fortune - many travellers even report spending less money while visiting Iceland than in Las Vegas.
  5. The Cuisine - It would be a long list of reasons why you should travel to Iceland without including the local cuisine. Icelanders are well-known for their hearty meals consisting of seafood, lamb, reindeer meat, and vegetables. But visitors don't have the obligation to eat Icelandic cuisine while they are in Iceland. Restaurants in other countries offer Icelandic recipes and ingredients. French restaurants may offer chicken soup made from puffin eggs; Italian restaurants might serve salmon-topped pasta.
  6. The nightlife - Though you may have thought Iceland was quiet, it is a great place to visit. Icelanders should be prepared to stay up until the wee hours of the morning when they visit. There are many bars and clubs to keep foreigners busy throughout the week.
  7. The weather – Although Iceland is subject to extreme temperature fluctuations, it has a mild and stable climate. Because of this, travelling to Iceland isn't going to break the bank. For proof, you can look no further than Reykjavik Grapevine Festival. It is one of Europe's largest music festivals. Over 100,000 people attended this festival last year.
  8. Safety - Although Iceland is safe, there are certain precautions you should follow to stay out of harm's way. Don't wear expensive jewelry, especially diamonds. Your valuables should not be left in public. You should also ensure that someone knows where your destination is if you plan on hiking in the countryside.
  9. Education - If you study Icelandic, you can use your knowledge to help others understand the language. Getting involved in Icelandic politics is also possible, which will help you learn more about the culture.
  10. Because of its liberal policies, Freedom - Iceland is becoming more popular with travelers. The government was required to create legislation banning police officers from asking excessive questions. They don't want to go after people who break laws, but tourists who inadvertently do so.
  11. The environment: Iceland is an isolated island which has been left relatively untouched. Iceland's natural beauty is a unique one. Compared to European countries, Iceland is barely touched by modern civilization. You could walk across the entire country in just two days.
  12. Iceland's health care system is excellent and the prices for medical services are usually very reasonable.

Sweden looks beautiful in winter.

Sweden is wonderful in winter! The snow-covered landscapes are simply stunning, and there are so many fun activities to enjoy, like skiing, snowboarding, and sledding. Even if you don’t like the cold, it’s worth getting out of the house and exploring the natural beauty of Sweden at this time of the year.

What are the most popular winter destinations?

Most people go skiing. Aspen is my favorite place. It's where you find all the rich people. They go there to ski. It's great to have money. It's not necessary to worry about everything.

Winter sports are not limited to the elite. Skiing is a passion for everyone. It's enjoyable and relaxing. You get to spend time with friends and family. You may be able to catch a glimpse or two of a celebrity, if you're really lucky.

There are many different winter destinations that people travel to. Popular destinations include Aspen (Colorado); Vail (Colorado); Park City (Utah); Lake Tahoe, California. These locations offer fantastic skiing and snowboarding. Canada has many great ski resorts that are more affordable if you are looking for something more economical. You should do your research before you make a decision about which destination to choose.
